Earlier this year members of the Harmony Energy Works team took a research trip to Peru. During their visit they were amazed to find the utilization of solar technology in the most remote parts of this developing country. The most remarkable of which had to be found on the islands of Lake Titicaca.
There are several impressive facts about this lake, like that is the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable lake in the world, or that it contains 44 or so “floating” island that house permanent residents even today. These islas are man-made constructions made from totora reeds that grow in the lake. Many serve as a stopping-point for tourists before heading to the lake’s more stable land masses.
